Sales Tax Income Indicates Draw Of Lake Jackson Retail

LAKE JACKSON, TX—Sales tax income in Lake Jackson represents a population of more than 70,000, indicating the draw of retail shopping from the area. An example of that retail draw is the recent lease by ALDI, a discount supermarket chain.

ALDI will be located in a freestanding 23,500-square-foot building located at the corner of State Highway 288 and This Way Street. Situated near Lowe’s home improvement store and Dow Chemical’s new campus, ALDI is slated to open this fall.

The city of Lake Jackson was built in the early 1940s as a planned community, designed by Alden B. Dow for workers in support of a new plant for the Dow Chemical Company, which his father owned. The Dow Chemical Company and the Brazosport Independent School District are now major employers of the city’s residents. Lake Jackson is also home to other chemical and manufacturing facilities, along with many other types of businesses. Gas station and convenience store chain, Buc-ee’s, has its headquarters in Lake Jackson as well.

Streetwise Realty Partners represented the tenant and Baker Katz is the owner of the building where ALDI will be located.

Baker Katz principal Kenneth Katz tells GlobeSt.com: “ALDI is entering a thriving area, one that is the epicenter of daytime and residential population. The building is conveniently located near State Highway 288 at a highly visible location and is ideally situated for the local community.”

Houston-based Baker Katz is an X Team International partner and full-service commercial real estate brokerage firm specializing in retail tenant representation, investment sales, and project development and leasing.

“Lake Jackson is a very healthy retail area,” says Katz. “ALDI sits at a great location with easy access from State Highway 288.”
