Baker Katz Completes Port Arthur Center

Houston-based Baker Katz has completed its 90,000-square-foot multi-tenant center in Port Arthur, with the opening of a 13,000-square-foot PetSmart.

“We are proud to re-introduce this formerly vacant property to Port Arthur residents,” Kenneth Katz told GlobeSt.com. “The updates we made resulted in attracting outstanding national retailers that will serve the community well.”

The former Sutherlands Hardware was transformed into a multi-tenant retail center with the addition of other national anchor tenants, including a 57,000-square-foot Hobby Lobby, and a 14,000-square-foot Party City. ChipotleFirehouse Subs and Gulfside Dental, which will open by early 2016, will occupy a 7,000-square-foot building in the foreground of the project.

“Prior to our purchasing this property in 2012, it had been vacant for many years,” says Katz. “The new layout maximizes retail space and visibility, which resulted in attracting a number of prominent national retailers to the project. It is rewarding to see our work on this redevelopment come to a successful conclusion just in time for the holiday shopping season.”

Located at the intersection of Highway 69 and F.M. 365, Baker Katz has given the center a complete interior and exterior transformation. The variety of retail options makes this a prime shopping location.
