Restaurant Roundup: New cantina opens on Washington; Phat Eatery coming to The Woodlands

It’s been a busy week for Restaurant Roundup, with new concepts entering Houston as well as local favorites and recent newcomers expanding.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar expanding in Houston area

California-based Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar will open its third Houston-area location at Waterview Town Center in Pecan Grove in Fort Bend County.

The company already has a location in Cypress and will open one within The Grid mixed-use development in Stafford this July. The Pecan Grove location is slated to open in summer 2023. Jason Baker, principal at Houston-based Baker Katz, an X Team International partner and full-service commercial real estate brokerage firm, and Brian Kjos Restaurant Group represented Lazy Dog in its Waterview Town Center lease.

The restaurant is “designed to feel like a Rocky Mountain Wyoming escape,” with lodge-inspired furnishings such as fireplaces, ledge stone, a chandelier made from Aspen logs and artwork reminiscent of Wyoming. There will be a large outdoor patio with a fire pit. The menu offers “comfort food with a twist,” highlighting seasonal ingredients plus handcrafted cocktails and a large selection of craft beers.

Lazy Dog also offers brunch on the weekends as well as late-night and happy hour specials.
