Retail wrap: Phenix Salon Suites, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Jiffy Lube ink new locations

Phenix Salon Suites leased 7,500 square feet in Gateway Memorial City, at 947 Gessner, from MetroNational. It will be the second location for franchisees Greg and Susan Gordillo after opening in Katy in 2019. The business offers more than 30 suites for rent to independent salon professionals such as hair stylists, lash specialists, manicurists and massage therapists. The California-based chain has grown to more than 300 locations, including nine in Houston.

Taft, an online retailer of Eruopean-inspired men’s footwear founded by Kory and Mallory Stevens, opened a Houston store in M-K-T Heights at 600 N. Shepherd. The shoes, which feature bold designs with intricate and ornate patterns, are made in Portugal and Spain. Taft has other brick-and-mortar stores in New York and Dallas.

Bel Furniture, a Houston-based furniture retailer with locations across Texas, purchased the 60,935-square-foot former Star Furniture furniture showroom at 7111 FM 1960 in northwest Houston. The building is on 2.4 acres. Jason Baker and Ben Brown of Baker Katz represented the seller, Power Squared Group. Brian Ashby of CBRE represented the buyer.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will open in Cypress Green Plaza, at 210 Cypresswood Drive, in mid-August. It will be operated by franchisee Joseph Pina, who plans a shop in the Elyson community near Katy later this year. Based in Orlando, Fla., Jeremiah’s offers more than 40 flavors of Italian ice and soft ice cream. The Cypresswood shop will have indoor and outdoor seating, a walk-up window, a drive-thru and third-party delivery options.

Marble Slab Creamery / Great American Cookie leased 1,500 square feet in Manvel Town Center, an upcoming development by Weitzman at Texas 288 and Texas 6 in Manvel. Kyle Knight of Weitzman represented the landlord. Kristen Barker of Wolfe & Co. represented the tenant.

Cochinitos Real Estate purchased a 10,020-square-foot commercial building at 14500 North Freeway for use as a Mexican food restaurant. Erica Galvez of Terraforte represented the buyer. Tom Condon Jr. of Colliers International represented the seller, TSC Ventures.

I Heart Mac & Cheese, a restaurant specializing in made-to-order macaroni and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches, leased 1,500 square feet at 7611 Eagle Drive in Mont Belvieu. Nick Jasien and Larson Riff of Friedman Real Estate advised the landlord, Amjad Sheikh.

US Pools leased 1,400 square feet at Shoppes at Katy Pin Oak, 25705 Katy Freeway, Katy. Benny Nguyen and Eric Broussard of Resolut RE represented the landlord. Taylor Stoute of Oxford Partners represented the tenant.

7-Eleven leased 5,000 square feet at North Junction Plaza, 156 FM 1960. Benny Nguyen and Jim Thompson of Resolut RE represented the landlord. Eric Broussard of Resolut RE represented the tenant.

Jiffy Lube leased space at Berry Farms Marketplace, 24527 Gosling Road, Spring. Taki Dallis and Joaquin Orozco of Resolut RE represented the landlord. Jamie Weaver and Sara Allen of Arena Realty represented the tenant.

Shipley’s Do-Nuts leased 2,486 square feet in Shops at Sedona Lakes, at Texas 288 and Bailey Avenue, Manvel, from NewQuest Properties. Kevin Sims and Nick Ramsey represented the landlord. Larry Lankford and Ryan Lankford of Dunninghill Properties represented the tenant.

Buff City Soap leased 2,450 square feet at FM 762 and U.S. 59 in Richmond from NewQuest Properties. Bob Conwell and Austen Baldridge represented the landlord. Scott Gardner of Streetwise Retail Advisors represented the tenant.
