Fast-Casual Eatery Melts Into Core Trade Areas

HOUSTON—The Melt, a fast-casual restaurant serving food exclusively from natural ingredients, opened its first Texas location at The Lawn at Houston’s Baybrook Mall yesterday. An additional location is slated to open in spring of 2017 at the Vintage Marketplace Restaurant Village.

Outside of its home state of California, The Melt also has locations in Colorado. It will make Texas its third market expansion, according to Jason Baker, principal with Baker Katz, the brokerage firm that handled both leases.

“The Melt has had a substantial track record of growth throughout California and Colorado, and we are proud to help drive their expansion into Texas,” said Baker Katz broker Ben Brown. “This will be a great addition to the Houston restaurant landscape, bringing in classic American dining with the highest quality ingredients for all to enjoy.”

Featuring an all-natural made-to-order menu, The Melt features comfort food favorites with strict quality standards and top-of-the-line ingredients including aged artisan cheeses, as well as a selection of locally brewed Texas beers.

“Baybrook Mall Lifestyle Center and Vintage Marketplace Restaurant Village are ideal settings for The Melt’s introduction into the Houston market as they are located in core trade areas with consumer fundamentals that connect well with what The Melt provides, great food with all natural products made in a short matter of time,” Brown tells GlobeSt.com.

Founded and headquartered in San Francisco, The Melt is a fast casual eatery with a menu of all-natural, nostalgic American classics. The Melt’s chef-created menu features handcrafted grilled cheeses, cheeseburgers made from a custom blend of Angus and Wagyu beef, crispy fries, homemade macaroni and cheese, handspun milkshakes, and soup and salads–with no hydrogenated fats, preservatives, artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.
