Retail Wrap: Dollar General, Advance Auto Parts and more

Highlights of real estate activity in the Houston area:

Dollar General will hold a grand opening of a new store at 15625 Aldine Westfield at 8 a.m. Saturday. The first 50 adult shoppers will receive a $10 store gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag.

Newk’s Eatery will open its fourth Houston-area location, at 2712 Eldridge Parkway, at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The first 50 customers will receive 52 gift cards that can be redeemed for a free entree each week for a year. The 4,750 square-foot space restaurant has space for 150 inside and patio dining for 35. The menu includes salads, artisan pizzas, toasted sandwiches, soups and desserts. Franchisees Colby Kaminer and Todd Jackson plan to open five additional locations in the Austin area by 2019, including the first location in San Marcos in March.

Miss America’s Betty Cantrell will be at Scruples Boutique 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for a trunk show featuring Joseph Ribkoff’s clothing line. The appearance at Champions Forest Plaza, 5446 FM 1960, was announced by the center’s owner, Smithco Development.

Houston-based Baker Katz has completed a 7,000-square-foot lease with Advance Auto Parts for a new store to be built at FM 1960 and Aldine Westfield Road. Construction is expected to begin this month and the opening is planned in May. Traci Holman and Jason Baker of Baker Katz represented Advance Auto Parts.

Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt has leased 1,050 square feet in the South Shore Shopping Center at the southeast corner of South Shore Boulevard and Texas 96. Jacob Grossman with TheWeitzman Group represented Sub Zero.

Coral Loop Partners, an affiliate of Wile Interests, has purchased approximately 1 acre of land on the North Loop between Arlington and Cortlandt streets. The site will developed with a shopping center. Matt Parsons and Mark Raines of JLL represented the buyer. The sellers were represented by Jim Gribble of Tarantino Properties and by Glen Graef.

Fresh Dental Care has opened an 8,000-square-foot dental office at the 5900 North Freeway Shopping Center. Dr. Joseph Nguyen owns the clinic. Thomas Allen of Thomas Allen Real Estate Advisors represented the tenant. Abe Charski of ACI represented the landlord.
