Mattress One is exploding through the Houston metro; Baker Katz’s Clay Albers inked 16 leases totaling 60k SF here in the first half of this year alone. Clay tells us the brand entered the Texas market (beginning with Houston) for the first time last year. Its goal is to open a location in every major shopping destination in greater Houston, so Clay says this hectic pace will continue as the brand saturates the market.
Clay says Mattress One is primarily targeting high-visibility locations in areas with destination retail. The new stores range from multi-tenant outparcels to shadow-anchored space and free-standing stores. (Really, they’ll do about anything that has easy access for a large number of consumers.) This year’s new deals include stores ranging from 1,906 SF to 6,000 SF and include locations in Houston, League City, Spring, Cypress, Tomball, Humble, Katy, Nederland, Port Arthur, and Beaumont.
